It may result in numbness and tingling to the middle, index and half of the thumb. Most commonly the symptoms include weakness or “clumsy” fingers and thumbs, also awakening at night, due to pain. Causes include repetitive flexing and extending of the wrist (this may lead to swelling within the wrist and thickening of the forearm tendons), a dislocated carpal bone, sleeping positions, pregnancy and diabetes are also common causes. Once the underlying cause of the CTS is determined by easy testing and patient’s reports of symptoms, the proper course of treatment will be provided. […]
